Ownership is unclear. Decisions take too long. Measures exist and nobody acts on them. The same issue resurfaces in a different function. That needs a designed operating model — not another initiative.
Fits when growth, acquisition or two-of-everything has outrun the structure that used to work.
Every initiative launches with energy and dies within six months. Leadership agrees in the room, then everyone runs the business the way they always have — because nothing was built to hold the plan accountable.
This is not an operate engagement. Many clients buy assessment and design and nothing else. That is a complete outcome. Assess is not a lighter version of anything — it is the full FORT Enterprise Assessment, the same instrument a Fortress examiner uses on any engagement, run end to end before a single line of the target model is drawn.
The full FORT Enterprise Assessment: an Organizational Profile, all 25 FORT elements scored on Approach, Deployment, Learning and Integration, your balanced results scored on Levels, Trends, Comparisons and Integration, and a constraint ranking. Interviews, documentation and how results are actually used — not a data extract.
Future-state model: roles, ownership, decision rights, governance sized to your stakes, KPI architecture, workforce design, 90-day install plan — built directly from what Assess found, element by element.
Optional guided implementation, paced to change capacity. Or a Fractional COO sits the cadence. Or a stream if the constraint turns out to be one queue after all.
Most operating-model work redesigns the org chart. Organizations rarely lack data. They lack a measurement system that produces decisions — which is exactly what the Results side of the FORT Enterprise Assessment scores.
Grounded in Baldrige and Shingo principles, organized under Fortress's own FORT Whole Enterprise Excellence model. The output is a practical blueprint tied to execution — not a framework deck.
| Assess produces | Design produces |
|---|---|
| Organizational profile — mission, operating context, competitive environment, stakeholder relationships and the strategic challenges you are actually facing. | Future-state operating model: roles, ownership, decision rights and accountability structure. |
| All 25 FORT elements scored across the five principles, using Baldrige's ADLI method — Approach, Deployment, Learning, Integration. | Governance framework and control design, sized to your stakes rather than to a template. |
| Your enterprise-level FORT maturity level and a principle-by-principle profile, from Hero-Dependent through Adaptive. | KPI architecture — mission-to-KPI alignment, a balanced scorecard, and the thread from strategy to daily work. |
| Balanced results scored on Levels, Trends, Comparisons and Integration (LeTCI) — where measures are absent, untrended, unsegmented, disconnected or unused. | Workforce and capability design. |
| Constraint analysis: which principle and which elements are structurally limiting performance, ranked by likely economic weight. | Technology fit assessment. |
| Customer value and voice-of-customer review. | Transformation roadmap with a defined 90-day quick win. |
Because we do not take your data, the economic framing comes from your own figures and from the gaps we observe. Where something cannot be evidenced from what we saw, we present it as an estimate and say so. If you want a baseline built from your systems — the kind that supports a performance-based commitment — that is a different engagement, and we will tell you which one you need.
This engagement collects no client data extract. We observe how results are presented and used — dashboards, scorecards, trend charts, management-review materials — alongside interviews and documentation. Nothing is extracted, transferred or retained.
No DPA or BAA to negotiate before we begin. Nothing for security to review, because nothing of yours moves. For healthcare or insurance that usually removes weeks from the front of an engagement.
Confidentiality still applies to everything we see and discuss. Not taking your data is not the same as not seeing anything sensitive.
Strategy deployment that actually cascades, named owners at every level, a rhythm that surfaces problems while they are still small. A binder does not catch a problem in week three. A cadence does.
If the constraint is one queue, that is a value stream. If the seat is empty and the model already exists, that is Fractional COO. If you want to see the full model this Assess phase is built on, that is the FORT Whole Enterprise Excellence page.
Twenty minutes. Those need different answers. We would rather establish which before either of us writes anything.
The session is free. The diagnostic is not.
